Dorothy's Obituary Dorothy Anne Shoemaker, daughter of John and Helen McCall Carlin, was born July 2, 1942, in Phillipsburg, Kansas and entered her Heavenly home November 21, 2020, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years. Dorothy made a profession of faith in Christ as a young woman, at age twenty-nine, she was saved and baptized. She lived her life according to God's word and had a wonderful testimony to share. She was a dedicated prayer warrior for her family and friends and taught her children the importance of faith over fear. At the time of her passing, she had been a longtime, active and faithful member of Southern Heights Christian Church. On September 18, 1960, Dorothy was united in marriage with the love of her life and eternal best friend, David "Dave" Shoemaker. Together they shared sixty years of love, laughter and memories while raising their four children, Mark, David, Chris and Dawn. Dorothy was a real estate broker for many years. She was a devoted homemaker and loved sewing, baking and cooking. She had a servant heart and spent countless hours making mats for the homeless out of plastic bags. She loved to travel with her husband, Dave and treasured every moment spent with her family. Dorothy is survived by her husband Dave of the home; four children, Mark Shoemaker and his wife Denise, David Shoemaker and his wife Janice and Chris Shoemaker and his wife Jodi, all of Lebanon, MO and Dawn Sampson and her husband Daniel of Dillsburg, PA; ten grandchildren, Brandon Shoemaker and his wife RaeAnn, Derek Shoemaker, Megan Semonis and her husband Sam. Ryan Shoemaker and his wife Danielle, Brooke McElvaney and her husband Levi, Austin Shoemaker, Aaron Shoemaker, Noah Sampson, Lyla Sampson and Allie Sampson; seven great-grandchildren; three siblings, Irene Koester of Logan, KS, Weldon Carlin and his wife Carol of Norton, KS and Harold Carlin of McCook, NE; other relatives; church family; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. |
