Barbara Dwyer Holt

Barbara Joan Dwyer was born on December 13, 1942 in Norton County Hospital as the first born child of Carl and Ethel Dwyer of Lenora, Kansas. She passed away on June 14, 2002 in Paradise, California.

After graduating with the LRHS class of 1960, Barbara moved with her family to California. In the Fall, she enrolled at St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Hays, Kansas, where she received her nursing degree (RN) in May, 1963. Barbara then returned to California and began her career as an Oncology Nurse at San Jose Medical Clinic. In 1968, she married Dick Bennett and they purchased a home in San Jose.

In 1974, Barbara and Dick moved from California's Silicon Valley to purchase a restaurant and golf resort in Miwuk Village, California. Miwuk is a beautiful little mountain area near Yosemite where Carl and Ethel Dwyer had retired. Barbara and Dick ran this resort for 10 years before deciding to relocate to Palm Springs in Southern California. Barbara resumed her nursing career working for a Pulmonology Specialist and Dick returned to his career in real estate and property management.

In 1989, the Bennetts divorced and Barbara relocated to Paradise, California where Carl and Ethel Dwyer and Kathleen Dwyer now lived. Barbara worked as a nurse for an Allergy Specialist there. In 1990, Barbara married Dr. Roland Holt, a local dentist in Paradise. She enjoyed her life with him as a Doctor's wife in the community. Barbara was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early 2002 and passed away four months later at age 59. She was predeceased by her father, Carl Dwyer, and left behind her mother, Ethel Dwyer, her sisters, Judy Dwyer Albright and Kathleen Dwyer, and the love of Barbara's life, Kathleen's son, Carlton Dwyer.
